(8/10) "Gore metal redux: A necrospective" is another re-release from a death metal classic that comes via Relapse Records. As you might assume by having a first view on the name and the cover it is the "Gore metal" album from the grind- / death metal band that has got a new dress. Similar to the original one also the new art work got the pure splatter expression by keeping the main elements. It just looks even more disgusting and more professional.

The same goes for the music which will make all death metal fans quite happy. From immensive riffs to raging rhythms the album contains everything you could expect from such a long player. As said, the album is basically the bands classic "Gore metal". But Exhumed didn't want to see the bands milestone just rot away. That's why they went into the studio and re-recorded the iconic death metal album. Remarkable in this context is the fact that Exhumed could win former singer Ross Sewage to do the vocals also on the re-release. He vomits out lyrics that could be from any splatter B-movie while switching between deep growls and thrash shouts.

The sound of the new album is very good. It is quite diveretiated for a death metal release and transports an immense raw power.

"Gore metal redux: A necrospective" became an excellent re-release from one of the most important records in death metal. Well done and worth the effort.
