(8/10) There are these moments when you don't know what to expect and be positivly surprised. The EP from X-Ray Life is one of these examples. When I got their EP on my desk the other day I had no idea who they are and what music they play.
The EP is called "Skinned songs ... naked sound". This is also what it is about since the 5 songs are acoustic ones. And all five sound surprisingly good. The whole EP reminds me a bit to the acoustic session from Alice In Chains many years ago. This says also already something about the music. It is unplugged guitar sounds combined with great vocals by Mattia Briggi. The sound is influenced by grunge - I mentioned Alice In Chains earlier already. This gives all the songs a bit of a reflecting sadness.
Actually all the five songs are great. They are all unplugged versions from the bands debut called "x-ray life" from 2012 - which is by the way also worth to check.
If there is a song which might stand out a little bit than it is "Hej". This one has the most grunge influences and sounds like a mix between Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains. It just cool alternative rock and it is worth to check it out. If you like the bands mentioned earlier you will not be disappointed.
