(7/10) Roadfever from Switzerland have released their label-debut called "Wolf pack". Never heard about the band before? Me neither. They released already one album earlier in their career, which started in 2006. I must say that I liked what I heard. The band plays hardrock with some southern rock influences.
The first time I heard the album I was thinking about the singer. There was something which made me thinking. After I than read the info to the album it became clear. The singer is a 'she'. Manou Pike does the vocals on the album and she does a good job.
The opener "Wolf pack" is well chosen since it is the best song on the album. The song has a cool riff which is an invitation for heagbanging. I wished such a song would have been on the last Krokus album. "Magic sun" is another great rocker on the album. The song is a duett between Manou and Mat Sinner. Both voices fit perfect together and the song gets pretty energetic after a calmer beginning. Good time rock'n'roll. "Wings of an eagle" has a bit of Dokken in the chorus and "Black moon breeze" is the first song which shows the southern rock passion of the band. "Ride the ocean" sounds cool as well. Also here the band combined a strong riff with an irresistable melody. Of course such an album also needs a ballad. On this record it's called "Brother". Not a highlight but also nothing wrong with it. The album also ends with southern rock. "Red horse" is the last track on the album which was very entertaining and is the perfect soundtrack for a longer car ride. It works.
What's futher to say. Achim Köhler gave the album a good sound, which is based on his experience not a big surprise.
"Wolf pack" is a good hard rock album from Switzerland which makes fun and shows passion.
