Just recently they announced the release of a new live album and rarities collection called "Live at the O2 Arena + Rarities" which captures one of the biggest moments of the band's career, when they played their monumental show at London's famous O2 Arena on November 24th, 2016. The band put together a clip with some of the finest moments of this landmark performance with the background music of their "The Last Hero" track "Cradle To The Grave"!

In addition, this latest release contains an exclusive full-length "Rarities"-CD that will give every collector cause for rejoice. The CD features the never-before released tracks "Cruel Sun" and "Solace" that were recorded during the One Day Remains sessions. Tuesday The Sky, the new Ambient Instrumental Rock project by Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos, will be releasing its debut album ‘Drift’ worldwide on June 30th, 2017 via InsideOutMusic.

Jim Matheos checked in with the following comment about “Vortex Street”
“”Vortex Street' was co-written with vocalist Anna-Lynne Williams and is a bit different from most of the songs on “Drift” in that the main focus is the vocals, as opposed to the more guitar centered material on the rest of the album. The basic outline of the song was written using the AdrenaLinn II to process the guitars and bass so that they, hopefully, don't sound like guitars anymore. Those ideas were sent to Anna-Lynne, who crafted the beautiful melody lines. The "chorus" was created by editing and processing some of the main vocal lines along with some alternate vocal ideas Anna-Lynne provided."

Tuesday The Sky and “Drift” sees Matheos expanding the boundaries of his playing and sound even further than ever before. “Drift” came together in the downtime between Fates Warning finishing “Theories Of Flight” and the beginning of the touring cycle, enabling Matheos to explore a type of atmospheric and instrumental music you might not expect of him. Taking cues from artists like Brian Eno, Boards Of Canada, Sigur Ros and Explosions In The Sky, he explores expansive textures and ambient electronica, as well as some of the most colossal riffs he has ever produced.

“Drift” also features the talents of God Is An Astronaut’s drummer Lloyd Hanney, who provides a rhythmic backbone that is at once punchy, precise and restrained when necessary. Other guests include long-time OSI collaborator and former Dream Theater member Kevin Moore who plays keys on two songs as well as Anna-Lynne Williams (Trespassers William, Lotte Kestner), who provides ethereal vocals (of the non-verbal kind) on two other songs.
“Drift”, whose cover artwork created by Jan Tomic can be seen above, will be released as special edition CD, black LP + CD & digital download. Here is the album’s track-listing:

Tuesday The Sky – “Drift”:

  1. Today The Sky

  5. Dyatlov Pass
  6. Far And Away

Video and album details of GOD DETHRONED's next album

On May 5th Dutch Death Metallers God Dethroned will release their new album 'The World Ablaze' worldwide via Metal Blade Records!

Surf now over to where you can check out a video for the brand new 2nd single and title track 'The World Ablaze'!

Comments Henri Sattler: "This song is a mix between epic melodies and fast but catchy riffs and a song where Mike Ferguson shows off his skills as a lead guitar player. The lyrics deal with the war then, but can also be projected on the current situation in the world."

God Dethroned comments: "'The World Ablaze' is our final album in the WWI trilogy. We aimed to create an album that is very dynamic and diverse. It contains typical God Dethroned riffing with loads of melodies and catchy hooks. The songs are perfect for our live shows as they contain many mid-tempo parts combined with faster and more brutal parts. Diversity to the max! Dan Swanö mixed the album in his typical fashion but without robbing the band of its own identity. Mastering was handled at the Wisseloord Studios where they also mastered albums for bands like Rammstein among many others, and they put the icing on the cake. The album sounds crystal clear and heavy as fuck at the same time. We are very proud to present this album during our upcoming Serpent Fest album release shows early May!"

'The World Ablaze' track listing:

  1. A Call to Arms
  2. Annihilation Crusade
  3. The World Ablaze
  4. On the Wrong Side of the Wire
  5. Close to Victory
  6. Königsberg
  7. Escape Across the Ice (The White Army)
  8. Breathing Through Blood
  9. Messina Ridge
  10. The 11th Hour

CD review ALFAHANNE "Det Nye Svarta"

Veröffentlicht am 9. April 2017 von Markus W. in Alfahanne, Rock, Classic Rock, Punkrock, Dark Rock, Gothic, News, Video, CD Review, Heavy Metal, Black Metal

(7/10) And if there aren’t enough style in metal alreadt, there’s a new one around since quite a while – ‘Alfapocalyptic Rock’. Created by Swedish rock outfit Alfahanne, the style combines different variations of metal and rock. There are some black metal influences weaved into the sound, even though you shouldn’t think about a black metal band at all. Alfahanne are more a rock band that’s dedicated to dark and gloomy music build on a solid foundation of classic rock and punk.

”Det Nye Svarta” isn’t the first album of the Eskilstuna-based band. After having published a split 7” with Niklas Kvarforth’s Shining in 2013, it was the debut “Alfapocalyse” that hit the shelves a year later. Another longplayer followed in 2015 before “Det Nye Svarta” marks the third step of this outfit.

As the album title professes, the lyrics are in Swedish which makes it pretty hard to understand what the guys are singing about. However, just looking on names like “Satan's Verser” and “Dödsmaskin” clearly states a black expression that’s supported by the vibe of the music.

The songs on this longplayer, nine in total, have a grim approach. Within this framework it’s sometimes the impact of punk that’s more in the forefront – like in “Stigmata” and “Klubb 27”. A song that’s slightly different, having a slower pace, is named “Mitt Mörker Är Mörkare Än Ditt”. It spreads a sinister and baleful vein, mainly due to the pace and the hypnotic vocal lines.

Then there are other moments when I was reminded of bands like Fields Of The Nephilim. “Avgrundsgravitation” is one of these songs that include the beauty of melancholy spiced up with an essence of gothic rock.

It’s not ‘Orange is the New Black’. “Det Nye Svarta” comes from Sweden and it’s Alfahanne who launches it in beginning of April. In case you’re done already with colorful flowers and warmer temperatures, than this longplayer helps you to balance it.

  1. Satans Verser
  2. Stigmata
  3. Avgrundsgravitation
  4. Dödsmaskin
  5. Klubb 27
  6. Mitt Mörker Är Mörkare Än Ditt
  7. Även Hund Har Sin Dag
  8. Svarta Får
  9. Det Nya Svarta
