(7/10) Jyväskylä is a smaller town in Finland, one with a name that doesn't belong to the most easiest ones. It's the seventh biggest city in Finland but I guess the ranking would be far higher when it's only about rock'n'roll and metal. The city calls with the Lutakko a venue its own that hosts many concerts and there's also a small but well-assorted record shop downtown.
I can't say why I'm telling you all this. Maybe because I was so much surprised myself while having had the chance to visit the city twice. Anyhow, the band that recorded "In Vertigo" calls Jyväskylä their homebase. It's where Rivette started their rock'n'roll trip in 2014.
This longplayer is the first album done by the trio. It's actually an EP that marks the first nameable release. Rivette's sound is build on traditional metal which is combined with some classic rock elements. The whole things gets for sure retro vibe which is nicely done. It's not that Rivette leaves a mindblowing 'wow' moment in your memory, but tracks like the fast-paced "Limelight of Fire" are entertaining and a rocking time killer. I'm curious to hear more of the three guys from the North.
