(6/10) Finntroll are from Finland, they are singing in Swedish and they release a live album from a show they played in Amsterdam, Holland. This is an European union the musical way.

Founded in the end of the nineties the band from Helsinki, Finland released 6 full length albums till today. The last one is from 2013 and got the name "Blodsvept".

To be honest - I was never the biggest fan of the band nor someone who really dislike the band. I just not found access to their songs, their image and their sound. But OK, let's listen to the ive album. The first remarkable fact is the recording date. The live album contains a show the band played already in 2008. This fact already explains why there are only 'older' tunes on the setlist. Finntroll put equally focus on the first three records. Tunes like "Blodnatt" and "Nattfödd" work pretty well in a live environment and Finntroll achieves an enthousiastic live atmosphere - at least based on what's to hear on the album. And with nineteen tracks in total you also get value for money - live and on disc.

The sound of the album is authentic and real. It makes the "Natten med de levande finntroll" to a solid, but not extraordinary live record. Basic but OK.

Also this live album doesn't turn me into a fan of the band. But it is a good collection of the earlier songs of the band and for sure a nice thing for each fan of the band.
