Bad Religion concert review A'dam Melkweg 04-06-13

Three years after Californian punk rockers Bad Religion played in the Melkweg in Amsterdam they returned to Holland for another show at the nice venue. Brett Gurewitz (g) and Greg Hetson (g) couldn’t join the tour this time. Fortunately this hasn’t had any negative effect on the intensity of the show and they both were replaced by Mike Dimkich, who also supported already The Cult on several of their shows.

The Melkweg was almost sold-out when the band entered the stage a few minutes past 20:30. They started straight forward into their show with “Past is dead” from the new album “True north”. This was a great opener which immediately set the tone of voice for the coming one and a half hours.

The setlist contained new songs like “Fuck you” and “Vanity” combined with older classics from the band. “Suffer”, “Punk rock song” and “21st century (digital boy)” were highly appreciated by the crowd.

A few minutes past ten the final song was started – “Dept. of false hope” and rounded off an energetic show. 31 songs in 90 minutes – that’s punk rock, that’s Bad Religion. After such a show it’s clear that punk is for sure not dead!
