(*/10) Soggy is from France and there is one thing for sure, these guys have nothing to do with traditional chanson. Beb, Eric Dars, Francois Tailleur and Olivier Hennegrave are more inspired by bands like MC5 and The Stooges.
The guys started in 1978 with playing covers of Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and the mentioned The Stooges. The four-piece outfit released a 7" back in 1981, but the bands ambitions were ill-fated. It was one year later when the guys disbanded.
35 years later it was frontman Beb that returned on stage again after The Shrine recorded a cover version of "Waiting for War". This was a special moment that ended with a common stage presence in Paris.
"Soggy" has been released as a compilation already in 2012 in a very limited pressing which made it to a real collector item. Now it is re-released, including the mentioned "Waiting For War". This album is more like a musical time machine that feels like a time warp back into a time when rock'n'roll and punk has more been an attitude rather than a trendy consumable. This longplayer includes the street feeling of those days and is a cool retrospective.
Good stuff for fans of basic, raw, revolutionary and energetic punk rock.
