(7/10) UK-based hardrockers Dare are one of these bands that regularly comes back with excellent releases appreciated by a solid crowd of fans.

As Magnum, Vega and others, Dare is into hardrock. In the case of Dare things are even more melodic and the guys are closer to AOR. Dare focusses on rich melodies that comes close to sweet sugar sounds without being too sticky. Smoothness and a laid back vibe are main characterists for their sound that fills this the air by listening to "Sacred Ground".

It doesn't take a lot of time to get into the songs that are eternalized on "Sacred Ground". In total eleven rock anthems have found a spot on this album, that continues where Dare ended with "Calm Before the Storm 2".

"Sacred Ground" lives up to expectations which means that Darren Wharton and band didn't change there musical direction. If you liked the sound of the guys from Oldham, England you can almost blindfolded go for this album too.

Some might say that the tunes are too much mainstream and maybe they are right. But Dare founds a formula that makes their songs still interesting. Not all the sweet things are bad and not everything needs to be rocket science. Well crafted music that invites to an immediate sing-a-long is good stuff too, something you get with "Sacred Ground".

In case you're looking forward to an endless summer with your girl friend, riding in a convertable into the sunset, then this is your soundtrack.
