(8/10) What Australian Deströyer 666 releases on their new album "Wildfire" is jaw-dropping. Seven long years after having released "Defiance" the guys are back with their new record that is a real winner.

"Wildfire" is fed by nine brutal thrash anthems that are uncompromising and spot-on. There are no bells and whistles on this album. It's a about raw power and full speed ahead. This album is a sonic 'wildfire' that is hard to stop and actually you don't want to stop it.

"Traitor" is the first song with a blood curdling scream in the beginning that sound like the young Tom Araya. The track itself is a musical inferno. Aggressive riffs and the high speed of this number makes to a real opener.

This was just the beginning. "Live and Burn" is next and it's for sure no moment to recover. It's another fast and breathtaking number that brings back the glorious early thrash days.

"Artiglio Del Diavolo" is an instrumental that introduces "Hounds at ya Back". The five minutes long tune is build a a galloping rhythm and traditional guitar lines. In the chorus the tunes even brings back some old Running Wild vibes.

"Hymns to Dionysus" and "Die You Fucking Pig" got a blackened touch while the title track is another murderous thrasher.

There is one moment when things become more epic. The last song, "Taman Shud", is a seven minutes long metal opus that is build on a more moderate pace by still keeping the heaviness that characterises this record. The real highlight is the choral sing-along part that marks the end of a well-done ecord.

This 'wildfire' is hard to extinguish and that's good.
