CD review MEGAHERZ "Erdwärts"

(7/10) Munichs Megaherz's new EP "Erdwärts" is another chapter to the bands Neue Deutsche Härte history.

After the pretty successful "Zombieland" record in 2014 six new songs have been put on this inbetween release. Stylistically positioned between Rammstein and Der Graf ("Glorreiche Zeiten") the five-piece presents a wide variety of sounds.

"Wer hat Angst vor'm schwarzen Mann" marks the beginning of the EP and the Rammstein fans will love this track. Too obvious are the parallels with guys from Berlin. However, Megaherz can do this since they are one of those bands that actually started the NDH.

The next song, "Ist das verrückt" has the same pattern but reminds me more to Die Schweisser. The same goes für "Einsam" that ist spiced up with femal vocals; something that adds another shade to Megaherz's sound which is to appreciate.

"Teufel" instead is another creepy electro metal track that is followed by the pumping "Jordan", a song that comes with a might groove metal chorus. It's this heavy closer that kicks you out of this album.

"Erdwärts" became an interesting EP that shows quite some variations of the Bavarian guys. Good stuff from one of the spearheads of NDH.
