(*/10) Scorpions started with "Animal Magnetism" into the 80's - a decade that was supposed to become one of the most successful ones in the band's history.
The longplayer shows in a very good way the development of the band over time. And it is the real link between "Lovedrive" and the masterpiece "Blackout". Even though the album was done under quite some time pressure between two tours it contains a few alltime hits of the Hannover five-piece.
The opener" Make it Real", a true Scorpions anthem, is part of the record as well as metallic "Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep)" which shows a heaviness that culmulated in the next album.
The title track with its strong groove and heavy riff shows the Scorpions from the more experimental side, while the transcedent "The Zoo" plays in a league of its own.
Like on the other anniversary editons also this record comes with a lot of extras like demo tracks and "Hey You" with vocals by Rudolf Schenker.
"Animal Magnetism" is a great release that has added value for fans of the band and shows the bigger crowd that the band from Hannover has much more to offer than the far too often heard "Winds of Change".
