CD review YES "Live it is - At the Mesa Arts Center"

(*/10) It was in 2014 when prog icons Yes entered the stage at the Ikeda Theater in Mesa, Arizona to perform two of their most important releases. The band performed "Fragile" and "Close to the edge" in their entirety - both highlights from the early days of the band.

The line-up that night was consisting out of Jon Davison (v), Steve Howe (g), Alan White (d), Geoff Downes (key) and Chris Squire on bass. This fact makes the live recording already to something unique. As you heard, Squire lost is battle against cancer a few days ago which means, that "Like it is - At the Mesa Arts Center" is the last and final recording that includes the iconic bass player. It makes the album to something more than 'only' a live record. It feels like Squires legacy.

I don't think that I have to go deeper into the songs. It goes without saying that we are talking about prog rock milestones that are a treat for your ears.

The sound of the recording is excellent, by still reflecting a live environment. All this makes the disc to a 'must' in your prog collection.

Yes released some live records over the last years. But this one is special since contains iconic milestones of the band - and it is the last musical statement of Squire. Rest in peace.
