(8/10) Goblin Rebirth is nobody else than the original rhythm section of Goblin, the iconic band from the 70's. Fabio Pignatelli (b) and Agostino Marangolo (d) teamed-up with Aidan Zammit (key), Danilo Cherni (key) and guitarist Giacomo Anselmi. The five-piece recorded a new album, simply called "Goblin Rebirth".

Having a quick look back at Goblin. The first highlight of the band was called "Profondo Rosso", also known as "Deep red". It was a soundtrack for a movie that came out 40 years ago. More soundtracks followed before the band disbanded in 1989.

After having had some small signs of life it was in 2013 when, under the banner of "Goblin 2013 Tour EP" a 'new' disc came into the record shops.

Two years later the guys have released a new album that continues with the prog instrumental music the band got famous for. "Goblin Rebirth" is an exciting journey though elegant soundscapes that transport a lot of feeling and emotion. This is what music is about.

Goblin Rebirth's history in soundtracks helps them to draw pictures with their music. If you close you eyes and listen to the songs you can almost create your own movie; just based on the vibe the songs transport.

To sum up: "Goblin Rebirth" is a fantastic prog album that combines complex sounds and outstanding melodies. This makes the record excting for proggies as well as for fans of solid rock music.
