CD review VREDEHAMMER "Vinteroffer"

(7/10) Vredehammer which means 'wrath hammer' in English was founded in 2009 and is from Norway. The black metal group worked on their full-length debut, which will be released in those days.
The bands homebase is in a small city called Mo I Rana which is 1000km north from Oslo. I have never been their but it sounds like a very inspiring environment for a black metal band. This was also the place where Vredehammer recorded the album. The mix and mastering was done in Denmark - to be precise, in the Jacob Hansen studio.

Their debut is called "Vinteroffer" which means, if I'm right (please correct me in the comments), the longest night in the winter period. Sounds like a perfect title. The album contains nine songs which provide you with 45 minutes of fresh and powerful black metal.
A song which stands out is the 9 minutes long title track "Vinteroffer". Starting very relaxed with guitars only, the song builds up and becomes a real heavy black metal anthem. Considering the length of the track it provides quite some variations which makes it exciting from beginning to end. Well done. But the band doesn't play only pure black metal. There are also thrash metal influences on this album. One example is "Seduce infect destroy". It is an remarkable tune with a real Slayer-like middle part. It's an strong wall of sound what the guys are building up here. The same goes for "Cthulu". Thrash metal also can be found back in this riff monster. Also to mention is the last track on the album called "Admissa" which is the shortest one. Not even 2 minutes. You could expect a ultra fast tune, but it's actually a mid-pace tune with a mercyless beat which pushes the song forward.

"Vinteroffer" became a black metal album that I like. It has nine good songs and a production which supports the power and the aggressive energy of the songs in a good way.
