CD review TOXIC HOLOCAUST "Chemistry of consciousness"

(7/10) "Chemistry of consciousness" is out on the market. It's the new album of Joel Grind's Toxic Holocaust. It's album number four and it contains 11 thrash songs with punk influences. The punk elements became again more dominant compared to the predecessor. The thrash parts on "Conjure and command" were much more dominant. The new record still has them as well, but goes more into direction D.R.I., Nuclear Assault and Discharge.

The opener "Silence" is everything but not silent. It is a fast song with two minutes length. Short but powerful. No time to take a deep breath. "Awake the serpent" shows the same characteristics as the opener. A heavy riff opens "Rat eater". Pace goes down into the mid-tempo areas and the song becomes a great thrash metal track. After this short moment of 'relaxing' the package "Salvation is waiting" and "Out of fire" is waiting for you with high speed again. A break here and there fits good. The album continuous that way. Songs are following the same pattern. "Chemistry of consciousness" became a good metal album, but I liked "Conjure and command" more, since this album had more variety n the songwriting compared to the new record. On the new release each song in itself sounds good, with tempo changes, breaks and heavy riffs. It's just that most of the songs are too similar.

But however. It is still a good thrasher and it's the right soundtrack to bang your head till you get neck pain.
