(*/10) Buchcherry from L.A. released a best of album. It’s always the question with ‘best of…’ records: who needs them? This time I can understand that the band wanted to have an album on the market before they go on tour with the Hardcore Superstars. And it’s also OK to release a best of album after 6 studio records.
Josh Todd and his gang put 12 songs on the album and all the hits of the band are present. The album is a good reflection on the band's history. There are the straight rockers like the opener “Lit up”. Party feeling pure. The same goes for songs like “Ridin’” and “All night long”. That’s perfect Saturday night entertainment. If the saying “If you’re not tired on Monday you had a bad weekend” is true, then I must say that you’re pretty tired when you have these songs as your weekend soundtrack. But it’s not only the harder songs which found their place on the tracklist. Also the ballads are on. And Buckcherry managed to write good ones during their career. Just listen to “Sorry” and “For the movies”. And last but least to mention “Crazy bitch”. The band put even some blues into this track. Needs few times till it sticks, but than you don’t get it out of your head. By listening to the songs again the question remains why Buckcherry did achieved a better status in Europe so far. Let’s see what the future brings.
The only thing which could have been better is that there is only known material on the album. 1-2 new songs could have been a nice add-on. But OK…
The album is a good overview for newcomers and a good extra for the die-hard fans of the band.
